Worship. [Lent Day 7]

Worship is the act of responding to God’s greatness and His grace. We can do that through our deeds and our words. This definition is pretty broad, or at least the manner in which worship is accomplished isn’t really spelled out. That’s great news for someone who loves God and wants to truly worship Him. Don’t you think?

We haven’t specified whether you’re in a worship service or not. Whether you’re standing, sitting, bowing, kneeling, raising your hands or folding them in front of you, eyes open or closed. Whether you are indoors or outdoors, alone, or in a small or large group these all appear to house the potential for worship, agreed? So it looks like we/I can worship in many many different ways, at many times, in many places.

What direction are we given in our worship?

Let’s go back to the top. Worship is a response to God. To who He is. God is all knowing, all powerful, all present. He is love. He is good. He is perfect. He is holy. He is truth. He is worthy!!!

I can also respond to what He has done. He has forgiven us. Set us apart. Adopted us into His family. He has redeemed us. He has given us a hope and a future. He has given us purpose and a plan. Again, He is worthy!!!

You know, when I think about all that I can even grasp that God is, and that He has done. I don’t know how singing a song once (or even 3 or 4 songs) once a week with my church family is going to give God the praise He is due. Not from my lips, not from my life.

I think my worship of God demands far more attention and practice than a 15 minute set every week. What do you think? I can’t say that I am fully mindful of this on the kind of daily basis that my loving Savior deserves. How about you?

Let’s step up our awareness of all of the opportunities to worship our Lord and Savior. And let us worship Him as He is deserving, every day, in many ways as we simply respond to who God is, and all that He’s done for us.
