Is there a waiting place for the dead before the end?

Pastor Don talked about this briefly on Sunday speaking on the place of the dead, Sheol/Hades, which is split into three parts. #1 Paradise (the place where those with faith before Jesus death & resurrection went). In Luke 23:43, Jesus speaks directly of this place. #2 is the bottomless pit found in Revelation 9, 11, & 20. Also known as the “great gulf”, the abyss, or tartarus, the bottomless pit holds evil spirts. #3 is the place of torments found in Luke 16:19-31. This is the place where the spirits of people who do not have faith in Christ go to wait for final judgment. More about this will be described in week 8 of the series, entitled “Judgement Day”. The final destination for all who have denied Christ will be the “Lake of Fire” or more commonly known as hell.

I should also say that since Christ’s resurrection, the spirits of those who followed Christ are in heaven with the Lord. More about that will be discussed in week #3 talking about the rapture.
