Ha! Green doesn’t sound very biblical does it? Not really but I’ll tell you the truth, I had a moment of worship and gratitude to the Lord this morning when I saw green blades of grass underneath all of the winter debris.
The green represents something new and it reminds me of the new plan God brought to Israel and all of humanity. Isaiah 43:18 says, “forget the old” Israel. And in verse 19, “See! I am doing a new thing.” Isaiah is spreading God’s news, there is a new thing coming. That new thing is a person. His name is Jesus. He came to right everything that we did wrong. And it is beautiful.
When we embrace who Jesus is, what He’s done, and step into His plan there are even more things that become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17 says that if you are in Christ, (meaning you’ve asked Him to be your Lord and Savior) you become a new creation. That the old will go away and the new you will take it’s place. That is beautiful!
It’s a process of change. Kind of like the new green grass coming up through the ground and slowly eventually replacing all of the old dead wintered over grass. Kind of like the spring bulbs that start sending up stems and leaves before the flowers can actually bloom.
It’s a process. The new thing doesn’t happen over night. Even the birth of Christ to the completion of His mission here on earth didn’t happen over night.
It takes time. We can celebrate each step of the process, knowing the good that is yet to come. Today, seeing the green just was a perfect reminder of the new things God has brought into my life. I can see the grass is not yet completely renewed, nor am I. However, I can celebrate the hint of green and see that it is beautiful.
