Follow. [Lent Day 42]

On my way home this evening I sort of got “cut off” not in an illegal nor a threatening way, but the circumstances were such that I was in a position to follow this truck for a good portion of my trip. Yeah!

Following is not super fun when its a truck that you can’t see around on the road. Following is not loads of fun when you’re in a long line either, at least not for this girl that is hard wired for tasks verses socializing. However, following someone when they know where they are going and they are going someplace you want to go is pretty great.

Following Jesus is the ultimate, am I right!? Who would not want to follow someone who doesn’t even makes mistakes? Who wouldn’t want to follow a person who is humble, lovable, brilliant, and creative too!? Sign me up!

Every day I want to follow Jesus more. Because I find out some other great reason to do so. It’s true.

Interestingly on Tuesday of last week of Jesus ministry on earth, (aka passion week) Jesus talked very plainly about the end times. Some of His disciples asked what it was going to be like so Jesus described the fact that there would be wars, and earthquakes, persecution of the Christ followers, and so on. A couple of important notes: one is that the warning is to the Jews. So a great deal of this applies to them specifically during the tribulation. It is so important to take all of the scripture and read it together as one work and not pick and choose specific verses on which to hang your beliefs.

The over-riding theme is that there is an end coming.

That no one knows when it will come except for the Father. Should I repeat that? We are not any “smarter” today than anyone has ever been. No one still knows when we just know a few of the warning signs to look for.

That followers should be waiting and watching for Christ’s return. In other words we should be focused on Eternal things, not on earthly things. The earthly things are only temporary! Remember that.

While we wait, we need to not only follow the Lord and His teaching obediently we need to help others do the same.

Thank You so much for Your word Lord. Continue to illuminate and give understanding to Your transforming word.
