All Things New

Welcome.

What an incredible time of the year it is. A time of reflection. A time of renewal. Do you sense that? Does your soul long for a reset or renewal? I think that natural resets are a big deal to God.  If that were not so, why bother to schedule days and nights and weeks and seasons and years? We all need a reset.

Goals and such.

My goal for this year is to read through our church’s Bible Reading plan and to hold myself accountable, I’m planning to write some personal reflections using the scripture we are reading each week. It’s my hope and prayer that those things that God has impressed upon me will help you too! I like to call my blog worship moments because ultimately my time with God in His word leads me to worship. There is always something new and awe-inspiring to be shared.

Let’s get to it!

As I read and re-read Genesis 1-4 over the past few days although there is a whole lot here, I am just captured by the NEW BEGINNING of everything. Creation is mysterious and fascinating for sure, beyond that what captured my thoughts were the systems designed to be self-sustaining. Isn’t it mind-blowing to think about the layers and layers of connected plans that form as He speaks a WORD?  The light and darkness were placed into a rhythm that would not end. The water and sky, land and sea; sun, moon, and stars separated to perpetuate rhythms that sustain all of the life yet to come.  The LIFE! Plant life, animal life, and human life were all created as seed-bearing. All to procreate more of their kind. All too magnificent for words.

Reflections.

Let’s pause for a moment to acknowledge the careful, intentional, purposeful, loving, and generous plan that God accomplished. In a WEEK! This, my friend, is a Worship Moment.

Last spring and summer were a time of intensive learning for me about this bit of procreation.  Plant procreation that is.  Preparing the soil, germinating the seeds, feeding and watering the seedlings, protecting the plants from predators and my own stupidity, harvesting the fruit, preserving the fruit, and saving the seeds for the next season.  My goodness, I learned a lot and feel like I only scratched the surface. These months came flooding back to me as I thought about the seeds that God CREATED, from nothing. The seeds began everything and pointed everything back to God.

My challenge to you.

Are you paying attention to all of the beginnings that God set in motion? Have you thought about how every aspect of His creation not only brings Him glory but it is a sign for humanity to recognize His power and authority?  This is a good place to begin 2023. Recognize the author/creator of all things for who He is.

When you buy that seed packet for planting or box of salad mix in the produce section recognize the gift it is to you from your Creator who loves you and wants to sustain you in and for His glory?

“God is great, God is good, let us thank Him for our food. By His hands we all are fed, thank You Lord for daily bread.” Did you learn this as a child? I think my grandparents said this prayer at the dinner table. Next time you say thank you to God for your food, remember Genesis 1. He created so that we would be drawn to know Him, worship Him, and share Him with the people in our lives.

All things are new this week and it’s the perfect time to reflect and recognize from whom all things came.
